BEIJING,March25(Xinhua)--AfteravoyageofmorethanamonthfromSantosPort,Brazil,acargoshiploadedwith68,000tonnesofBraziliancornarrivedonJan.7ataportinsouthChina"sGuangdongProvince,markingthefirstbatchofBraziliancornimportedinbulkshipintoChina.
Beforethat,Brazilianagriculturalproductslikesoybeans,chicken,andsugarenteredChinaandgainedpopularityamongChineseconsumers.Brazilianbeef,coffee,andpropolisattractedmanyvisitorstothefifthChinaInternationalImportExpo(CIIE)lastyear.

ChinahasbeenBrazil"sbiggesttradepartnerfor14consecutiveyears,andBrazilisthefirstLatinAmericancountrytohitatradingvolumeofover100billionU.S.dollarswithChina.
In2022,thetradevolumebetweenthetwocountriesstoodat171.35billiondollars.Chinaimported54.4milliontonnesofsoybeansand1.11milliontonnesoffrozenbeeffromBrazil,takingup59.72percentand41percentoftheirtotalimportamount,respectively,accordingtothedatafromChina"sGeneralAdministrationofCustoms.
ChinaandBrazilarehighlycomplementaryineconomiccooperation.ChinesedemandforstapleproductsfromBrazilisincreasing,saidWangCheng"an,seniorexpertonPortuguese-speakingcountriesattheUniversityofInternationalBusinessandEconomics.
Agriculturalproducts,minerals,andpetroleumhavebeenpillarsintheeconomicandtradecooperationbetweenChinaandBrazil,saidZhouZhiwei,executivedirectoroftheCenterforBrazilianStudiesattheChineseAcademyofSocialSciences.
OnFeb.7,thePeople"sBankofChinasignedamemorandumofcooperationwiththeCentralBankofBraziltoestablishrenminbi(RMB)clearingarrangementsinBrazil.
ThemovewillimprovebilateraltradeefficiencyanddefuseexternalriskstoprovideaneffectivesafeguardmechanismfortradebetweenChinaandBrazil,Zhousaid.
Meanwhile,investmentfromChinaininfrastructureandprojectsforthepublicgoodbenefitedBrazilians.
TheStateGridCorporationofChina,aleadingstate-ownedutilitycompany,hasinvestedintheBeloMontepowertransmissionprojects,includingtwo800-kilowattultra-high-voltagelinestransmittingenergyfromtheBeloMontehydroelectricplantinParastatetobigcitieslikeRiodeJaneiroandSaoPaulo,whilenotharmingthelocalenvironment.
ThecompanyalsohelpedbuildawaterdesalinationprojectinthecityofJoaoCamarainRioGrandedoNorte,Brazil,providing80tonnesofpurifiedwaterdailyforlocalpeoplewhohadsufferedfrombrackishwater.
ChinaandBrazilarealsoexploringmorefieldsforcooperation,likescienceandtechnologyinnovation.
AtthefifthCIIE,Brazilsetupanexhibitionzoneforsci-techinnovationwith19Brazilianenterprisesinnewenergyvehicles,smartagriculture,andcarbonemissionreduction.
LuanHenrique,CEOofGeospace,aBraziliancompanyusingdronesforbetterresourcemanagement,saidtheChinesemarkethasmanyindustryleaders,andcommunicatingwiththemhelpshiscompanyenhanceitscompetitivenessandexpanditsbusinessinBrazil.
China"sremarkableprogressingreenandsmartemergingindustriesandcutting-edgetechnologiesinrecentyearsgeneratesopportunitiesforthetwocountriesaswellasmassivepotentialfordeepeningbilateraleconomicandtradecooperation,Zhousaid.
WangbelievedthattheindustrializationofadvancedtechnologieswouldprovideabroaderspacefortradebetweenChinaandBrazil,andthepragmaticbilateralcooperationformutualbenefitswillbeamodelfordevelopingcountries.
